Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio threw many for a loop at minicamp when he trotted out a first-team LB corps of Daryl Smith, Justin Durant and Clint Ingram. It wasn’t surprising based on the names alone, as those are the three projected starters next season, but rather that Durant was planted in the middle while Smith was manning an OLB post. Durant’s the best athlete of the LB corps and a natural fit on the weak side, whereas Smith has performed admirably at middle linebacker the past two seasons as a fill-in for Mike Peterson. But we’re cautioned not to read too much into the lineup, as it’s more a function of experimentation and keeping the team on its toes than it is the combination Del Rio is favoring. We’re also hearing that along the offensive line, from now through training camp, we should expect to see an almost daily reshuffling of personnel.
